My name is Michael Bergquist. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor. As a psychotherapist, my vocation and avocation are supporting you and working together on your journey toward self-discovery, healing, and learning to thrive from the comfort and convenience of your home or office, and when it’s most convenient for you.
Sometimes, we need help from someone new, experienced with developing collaborative relationships to find strengths we take for granted, and to embrace that we can be the person we’re meant to be.
Are you struggling with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, or major life changes? Let’s talk!
I enjoy the work I get to do, and the people I get to work with. If you would like to talk, I look forward to hearing from you. My Training & My Approach to Therapy
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and my training to become a psychotherapist focused on Clinical Counseling Psychology, with specialization in chemical dependency treatment. The goal of therapy is to develop therapeutic rapport. Achieving this between myself and each person I get to work with allows for trust in a brand-new kind of relationship to develop. Therapy with this trust in place offers the best potential opportunities for positive individualized treatment outcomes.
The evolution of the therapeutic relationship involves cooperation and collaboration, to help you feel your best as we figure out where you are when you begin therapy, and where you want to go. In therapy, the work is structured to help improve acceptance of yourself and the world around you, to align thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and to help you feel that you belong and that you have a purpose. You may not be where you want to be in life, but you can learn to trust you can get where you're meant to be.
My therapeutic orientation is eclectic, incorporating Person-Centered, CBT, DBT, Adlerian, Biofeedback, Humanistic, Narrative, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and Strength Based therapy. Through use of these methods and collaborative treatment measures, my goal is to foster each client's development of effective tools and strategies to help them achieve goals identified during our first appointment, and beyond, so to surmount life's inevitable obstacles, and keep their balance.
